The Menu at KIN
A profound reflection of Gary Maclean's journey, drawn from his books, his travels and his memories, KIN brings together Scottish heritage and modern gastronomy with quiet confidence. The menu is led by Scotland's natural larder, from its coastline to the countryside, and changes with the seasons. Ingredients are carefully sourced, thoughtfully prepared.
Confident, refined and effortless, this is cooking that lets the ingredient lead. From the legendary smoked trout of the Tobermory Fish Co & Smokehouse to the finest poultry from St. Brides Farm, the bounty of the season always takes centre stage, paired with exceptional spirits from Scotland's celebrated distilleries. Cuisine steeped in tradition, yet not bound by it.

Provenance on your plate
KIN is built around meals and moments that stay with you, honest cooking, carefully sourced produce and the warm, unpretentious hospitality of a kitchen that knows where everything comes from. The menu follows the seasons and the land, focusing on standout plates where flavour leads and the ingredient is always at the heart of it. From the legendary smoked trout of the Tobermory Fish Co & Smokehouse to the freshest catch from Scotland's coastline, everything on the plate is chosen for its origin, its character and the story it carries.
Provenance isn't a philosophy at KIN. It's where the story begins.
An Experience to Savour
KIN is built around the shared table and stories that linger, the warmth of coming together, breaking bread, and finding that precious feeling of belonging over good food, good drinks and even better company. It is about honouring what matters most - the ingredients, the people behind them, the traditions they carry and the new memories made around every table. A place made for family dining, convivial chatter and the quiet joy of simply being present. Where every visit feels like an occasion, without ever feeling like one.
Breakfast
Served every day, 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM
Mornings at KIN begin unhurried and well. Fresh pastries and homemade porridge sit alongside Highland smoked salmon, Orkney kippers and daily eggs from local farms, all prepared with the same care and respect for Scottish produce that runs through every menu at KIN. Freshly squeezed juices and artisan coffee complete the picture. A gentle, considered start to the day.
The Menu
Served daily, 12:00–22:00
From the gentle rhythm of afternoon to the quiet depth of evening, the menu at KIN moves with the day and with the larder, homely and refined in equal measure, moving easily between the familiar and the distinctly Scottish. From fish & chips and club sandwiches to haggis croquettes, smoked salmon, the sweetness of hand-picked crab, the depth of dry-aged beef and the delicacy of halibut, each dish crafted with balance and intention, each plate a quiet celebration of Scotland's finest. The drinks chosen with care, plate by plate, pour by pour. Every meal at KIN, whether an unhurried lunch or a quietly indulgent dinner, flavour always leads the way home

Design — Where Scotland Comes Home
The interiors at KIN, created in collaboration with Hannah Lohan and New Heritage Design, are a soulful reflection of the land and sea, a refined blend of Victorian heritage and relaxed, unhurried hospitality. Warm materials, woven cottons and tactile velvets balance rustic simplicity with humble luxury, while intricate wall mouldings, Persian rugs and considered lighting give the room a feeling that is more homecoming than restaurant. Every detail has been chosen with intention, echoing Gary's philosophy in the kitchen, his deep respect for tradition, reimagined into something entirely new. Stewart Ferguson's evocative landscape imagery and references to Gary's own books add depth and meaning throughout.
