Roseate X Ruchika Sachdeva, BODICE
The uniforms for teams across Roseate Hotels & Resorts, from valets, gardeners, F&B teams and heads of departments have been designed by Ruchika Sachdeva, founder of BODICE, keeping in mind the identity and visual language of the hotel. The uniforms are a classic take on modernism with clean lines and comfortable fits. The uniforms have been designed to cater to their everyday activities by adding functional details. A close control on quality of fabric and tailoring has been maintained by BODICE to increase the longevity of the uniforms. Over the last seven years BODICE has become a byword for a new wave of contemporary Indian design. Spiritual essence rather than ornamental excess defines the way Sachdeva draws inspiration from her cultural roots.
Eastern philosophy’s principles of balance and deep contemplation inform her design practice. As a premier luxury label, Bodice Studio takes this philosophy forward, whilst enabling Sachdeva to expand creative boundaries for the global market, using exquisite luxury textiles and time-consuming Artisanal methods. The result is clothes that are locally rooted yet globally relevant. Clothes that are as alluring, generous, courageous and witty as the women who wear them. Through environmentally sustainable design solutions, Bodice Studio envisions transforming this paradox into a model of co-existence. Artisanal craft embodies the principles of slow fashion. The label’s over-riding philosophy is to support artisanal livelihoods, whilst embracing cutting-edge technology and exploring innovative design solutions. With a B.A. Hons in Fashion Design and Technology from The London College of Fashion, and work experience at Vivienne Westwood, Ruchika Sachdeva returned to India and founded BODICE in May 2011. Her vision has been trenchant in a market more usually associated with highly ornamented occasion wear. She has consistently showed on India’s two-city fashion week calendar (in both New Delhi and Mumbai) and is recognized as a groundbreaking talent in India with a loyal following amongst artists, writers, gallerists, curators and actors as well as individuals from the corporate world in India.
